Privacy

We hold as little as a fair competition needs, and we delete it when the competition is over. This page says exactly what that is.

Who we are

Rally & Rosette is run by Andy Clark, a sole trader, who decides how your information is used (the "controller"). Write to hello@rallyrosette.com about anything on this page.

What we hold about a judge

  • Your email address, so we can send you a sign-in code. It's the only thing you give us that identifies you.
  • Your scores and any note you write, with the venue and the time.
  • Your unlocks: which venue's code word you entered, when, and whether it was right. This is how we know a score was cast from inside the venue.
  • Sign-in records kept by our database provider for security, which include the IP address of the device you signed in from.

We don't track your location, we don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we never sell or share a list of judges. The judge app keeps you signed in by storing a sign-in token on your phone; that's all it stores.

Why, and on what basis

We use your information to run the competition you signed up to judge: to sign you in, to apply its rules, and to count the result. We rely on your consent, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.

Venues receive a report after results night with their scores and judges' notes. It never includes who wrote them.

How long we keep it

Thirty days after results night, your email address and your sign-in records are deleted automatically, and any note you wrote is cleared. If you judged more than one competition, that happens thirty days after the last one's results night.

Your scores stay, anonymously, as part of the result. Nobody can then say whose they were, including us. That's what lets a result be checked after the people behind it are gone.

Who helps us

These companies process information on our behalf, under contract, and only to do their job:

  • Supabase runs our database and sign-in. Your information is stored in their London data centre.
  • Resend sends the sign-in emails.
  • Netlify hosts this website and the judge app.
  • Google Fonts and jsDelivr serve the typefaces and code the pages load, so they see your device's IP address when a page opens.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it now rather than waiting. Email hello@rallyrosette.com from the address you judged with. Once your address is deleted we can no longer find your scores — which is rather the point.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd be grateful for the chance to put it right first.

Judges must be 18 or over

Many competitions involve alcohol, so every judge confirms they're 18 or over when they sign up. We don't knowingly hold information about anyone younger; if you think we do, tell us and we'll delete it.
